About Elina

Finnish-American cellist Elina Snellman-Lang has appeared in some of the world’s leading concert venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, Lincoln Center, Disney Hall, The Kennedy Center, Finlandia Hall, Tel-Aviv’s Mann Auditorium, and Suntory Hall in Japan. As an active orchestral musician, Elina has performed with the Israel Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra with conductors Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, Lorin Maazel, Daniel Barenboim, Claudio Abbado, Paavo Berglund, Sergiu Comissiona, Yoel Levi, and Gary Bertini.

A dedicated chamber musician, cello teacher, and orchestral coach, Elina has worked with The Greater Newark Youth Orchestra, New York and New Jersey Youth Symphonies, Delaware Youth Orchestra, and the Lohja Summer Music Festival in Finland. She has an active cello studio at home and has taught at the Ridgewood Conservatory, Sylvan Academy, and The Mill Pond Arts Academy. Elina is a founding member of Sebastian String Quartet and the Anjali Piano Trio and performs chamber music throughout the metropolitan area. She has participated at the Interharmony (Italy), Spoleto, OK Mozart, and Bard Music Festivals as well as performances with the Philly Pops, Broadway Productions and recordings for NFL Films, American and Israeli TV, and various pop artists.

Elina received her Master of Music Degree from Mannes College of Music following her studies at the Tel Aviv University Rubin Academy of Music. Her cello teachers include Seppo Laamanen, Marcel Bergman, Emanuel Gruber, Paul Tobias, Timothy Eddy, Aldo Parissot, Janos Starker, and Boris Pergamenschikov. She was a recipient of the Wihuri Award in Finland and the Mannes School of Music Scholarship, and winner of the Herzliya Chamber Orchestra’s soloist competition in Israel.

Elina enjoys cooking, gardening, skiing, yoga, meditation and spending time with family and friends.
